Lying in bed, I ponder how to use the photo to my advantage against Chloe. I prefer to expose it to everyone, but I have to be cautious with whom I choose to share it -- her family or mine?

The thought of giving her parents this news makes my stomach turn. She'll never live this down and will never gain their trust again. I can only imagine the ridicule she will endure for the rest of her life. But then, it hits me—how much effort is she going through to uncover a secret from my past that I've kept so carefully hidden away?

My tongue squirms and writhes like a nest of worms, causing me to gasp in shock and recoil away. I frantically roll over, desperate to escape the repulsive sensation only to realize that it was all an illusion of slithering creatures that had taken over my mouth.

I still can't decide what to do with my choice. On one hand, if I give it to my parents, it would be a practical political move and they wouldn't choose her for the throne, thereby eliminating my biggest rival. But on the other hand, I'm never good at making decisions that aren't focused on my current needs. I want the immediate reward, not something secured in the future, the waiting feels like an eternity.

It will be the death of me.

I'm terrified of how far I'll go for the sake of self-preservation. Is it normal? There must be something else I can do, but should I just let people walk all over me? No, not an option. Whenever I think about someone like Chloe getting away with making others suffer, an inferno rages within me that's almost too hard to contain. Am I wrong to feel this way? Should I be doing something else?

I make up my mind; When Ryder reports that Chloe was the one who put the worms in my bed, I mail the Polaroid image to my parents. With a bit of luck, Chloe's parents will find out anyway.

My heart thumps in my chest as I curl up beneath the blankets, pulling them tight around me. The thought of Chloe Jamieson's impending doom fills me with a comforting heat and my eyes droop. As I slowly drift into a tranquil sleep, I'm sure retribution will be mine in only seven short days.
